A back facial treats congestion, breakouts and rough texture across the back and shoulders using the same steps as a facial: cleanse, exfoliate, extract where needed, treat and soothe. It is the practical answer to an area you cannot see or reach. There is no downtime, and most clients book it as a series while the congestion clears, then occasionally for maintenance.
The back and shoulders have larger oil glands and larger follicles than the face, which is why congestion there can be more stubborn and the lesions deeper. Add the things that sit against it all day — a backpack, a bra strap, a car seat, a sweaty gym shirt — plus conditioner running down it in the shower and sunscreen that never quite gets rubbed in, and the follicles have plenty of help getting blocked.
The reason it goes untreated is purely practical. You cannot see most of your own back, you cannot reach the middle of it, and the products that work on your face never get there properly.

A back facial handles congestion, blackheads, mild to moderate breakouts and rough texture. It does not treat established scarring from past acne — that needs microneedling, which works in a deeper layer — and it is not the right answer to severe, deep or cystic back acne, where acne laser treatment or a medical referral is more appropriate. We look at the area at a free consultation and tell you which of those you are dealing with, including the parts you have not been able to see for yourself.
Back facials suit all skin types and tones. We will adjust or postpone if the skin is broken, sunburned or actively infected, and your technician will ask about medications: isotretinoin in particular changes what exfoliation and extraction are appropriate. If your main concern is scarring rather than congestion, we will point you to microneedling for back acne scars instead.

No. The area may look a little pink immediately afterwards and settles quickly. Avoid the sauna, hot tub and pool for the rest of the day, and wear something loose.
No. A facial works at the surface; scars sit in the dermis. Microneedling is the treatment that remodels scar tissue, and the usual sequence is to settle the active congestion first and then treat the scarring left behind.
