Very clean, warm and welcoming. So informative and transparent- answered all my questions and explained the entire process from start to finish. She also talked to me throughout the entire procedure to help minimize the… pain and it was over before I knew it! I’m honestly glad I chose this location, they have really reasonable prices and excellent location. I have extremely sensitive skin and I haven’t had any side effects or marks as well. Very safe and effective! Yuliia is so sweet and does her job perfect. She makes me feel really comfortable and always ensures I’m pain free and happy with my results. Couldn’t suggest them more :)
Hair Removal for Sensitive, Reactive Skin

For sensitive skin, the problem with shaving and waxing is the repeated trauma: blades, hot wax and friction every few days. Laser hair removal removes the need for any of it: a patch test sets gentle, correct settings, the device’s cooling spray protects the skin, and after 6–8 sessions there is nothing left to shave.
Why sensitive skin and hair removal don’t mix
Sensitive skin has a weaker barrier and a quicker inflammatory response. Every shave removes a layer of skin cells along with the hair; every wax pulls the skin and strips its oils; every deodorant, perfume or “soothing” lotion applied afterwards has a chance to sting. The result is a constant cycle of redness, bumps, itching and, over time, thickened or discoloured skin. Especially in the underarms and bikini line.
The reactions we see most
Most “sensitive skin” hair-removal problems fall into one of these:
Razor burn
Red, burning skin within minutes of shaving, from a dull blade, dry shaving, pressure or shaving against the grain.
Folliculitis
Small red or white-headed bumps where bacteria enter shaved or waxed follicles; common in underarms and bikini line.
Eczema & dermatitis flares
Shaving, wax and depilatory creams disrupt the barrier and trigger flares on eczema-prone skin.
Contact reactions
Fragranced shaving foams, wax resins and deodorants sting or blister already-irritated skin.
Waxing burns & lifted skin
Hot wax on thin skin (bikini, upper lip) can burn or tear the surface, leaving marks for weeks.
Our recommended treatments for sensitive skin & shaving rash

How laser hair removal helps sensitive skin
Laser treats the hair below the surface without cutting, pulling or stripping the skin. The Candela GentleMax Pro fires a burst of cryogen cooling with every pulse, protecting the surface, and our technicians choose conservative settings for reactive skin after a patch test, then build up only as your skin shows it is comfortable.
- No blades, wax, resins or creams touching the skin. The most common triggers are removed entirely
- A patch test 48 hours before your first session shows exactly how your skin responds before we treat a full area
- Dynamic cooling with every pulse; extra cooling and a soothing gel afterwards for very reactive skin
- Fragrance-free, dermatologist-friendly aftercare advice, and we tell you exactly what to avoid for 48 hours
- After a course, there is simply nothing to shave: the daily irritation stops

What to expect at Oxyderm
Tell us everything at your free consultation: eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, keloid scarring, current retinoids or acne medication, and any allergies. Some conditions change the plan (for example, isotretinoin needs a six-month gap; an active eczema flare is treated after it settles), and honesty here is what keeps your skin safe. We patch-test, wait 48 hours, then start with gentle settings.
Before each session, shave 24 hours ahead with a fresh blade, skip exfoliants and retinoids for three days, and arrive with clean, product-free skin. Afterwards, apply a cool compress or aloe if the skin is pink, use fragrance-free moisturiser, and avoid deodorant, hot water, sweat and tight clothing on the area for 24 hours.
When we will say “not yet”
We will postpone treatment over an active eczema flare, broken skin, a cold sore near the area, a fresh tan or sunburn, or within six months of isotretinoin (Accutane). It is never a refusal, just a short wait so your skin gets the gentle, uneventful treatment it deserves.
Why clients love Oxyderm
Real, unedited Google reviews from Edmonton clients: the experience we work for every day.
The staff are professional, welcoming, and took the time to explain the process clearly, which made me feel comfortable right away. I am currently on my second session, but even after my first treatment I already… a huge reduction in hair growth and smoother skin with minimal irritation. I’m really happy with my results so far and excited to continue my sessions. I would definitely recommend this clinic to anyone considering laser hair removal.
Great experience for laser hair removal and good pricing. I have gotten full body laser and now my skin is much smoother thanks to Yuliya being so thorough! Very kind and professional.
Sensitive Skin & Shaving Rash: your questions, answered
Straight answers from the Oxyderm team. Still wondering about something? Call us. We love these questions.
Is laser hair removal suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes, for many people it is the gentlest long-term option, because it removes the need for blades, wax and creams that irritate the skin. We patch-test first, use conservative settings with the device’s built-in cooling, and adjust as your skin shows how it responds.
Can I have laser if I have eczema?
Yes, on skin that is not currently flaring. We treat around or after eczema patches settle, use gentle settings and give you fragrance-free aftercare. Tell us about any steroid creams you use so we can time the treatment correctly.
Will laser cause a rash like shaving does?
Most clients see mild pinkness for an hour or two, similar to a warm flush, which settles with a cool compress. Because nothing cuts or pulls the skin, the razor-burn and folliculitis cycle stops once you no longer need to shave.
What should I avoid after a session if my skin is reactive?
For 24–48 hours: hot showers and baths, saunas, workouts, tight clothing, deodorant or perfume on the area, exfoliants, retinoids and sun. Use a fragrance-free moisturiser or aloe gel and SPF 30+ if the area is exposed.
I react to numbing cream: do I need it?
No. Most clients do not use numbing cream at all; the cooling spray built into the laser handles the sensation. If you do want extra comfort we can use additional cooling instead of topical anaesthetic.
Does laser hair removal help with folliculitis in the underarms?
Yes. Folliculitis is bacteria entering follicles opened by shaving or waxing. When the follicles are disabled by laser there is no shaving, no open follicles and, for most clients, no more bumps, usually noticeable by the third session.
