Microneedling for Neck & Décolletage
The neck and chest give away more than the face does, and they are the two areas most often left out of a skincare routine. Crepey texture, vertical neck lines and sun-damaged chest skin all respond to microneedling.

Neck and chest skin is thinner than facial skin and has fewer oil glands, so it ages differently and is treated at a lighter depth. Microneedling here targets crepey texture, the horizontal and vertical lines across the neck, and the sun damage most people accumulate on the chest. Most clients treat it alongside the face so the result does not stop at the jawline.
Why the neck and chest age first
These two areas take years of sun exposure in an open collar while getting almost none of the care the face gets. The skin is thinner, with fewer oil glands and less structural support, so it loses firmness earlier and shows it more obviously. The result is familiar: fine crepey texture across the neck, horizontal bands, vertical lines running down from the jaw, and mottled sun damage with fine wrinkling across the chest.
Treating the face and skipping the neck is the most common mistake in a skincare routine, and it is visible: a smooth, even face above a crepey neck draws the eye straight to the contrast.
How it is treated differently from the face
Thinner skin means a lighter touch. Your technician uses a shallower needle depth on the neck and chest than on the cheeks, and works with the direction of the skin rather than against it. The trade-off is that progress here is typically more gradual than on the face, and the course is planned with that in mind.
Shallower depth
The eDermaStamp depth is reduced for thin neck and chest skin. Using a facial setting here would be over-treating it.
Pink for a day or two
The same flushed, mildly sunburned look as a facial session, and it settles on a similar timeline.
Sun history matters here most
The chest carries more cumulative UV damage than almost anywhere. Strict sun protection afterwards is not optional.
Treat with the face
Most clients add the neck and décolletage to a facial session so the improvement carries past the jawline.

Looking after the area afterwards
Necklines, collars and seatbelts all rub exactly where you have just been treated, and the chest is the first thing an open shirt exposes to the sun. Both are worth planning around.
- Stop retinoids and exfoliating acids on the neck and chest before your session — ask for the exact window
- No sun, tanning bed or self-tanner on the area for two weeks either side of a session
- Soft, loose necklines for the first day; no scarves, high collars or necklaces rubbing the area
- Skip the gym, sauna and swimming pool for the rest of the day
- Daily SPF 30 or higher on the neck and chest from then on, not just the face
- Carry your usual facial routine down onto the neck and chest between sessions, not just up to the jaw

What it will and will not do
Microneedling improves the quality and texture of the skin on the neck and chest: finer crepiness, smoother surface, better tone. It does not tighten loose skin or lift sagging tissue — if that is what is bothering you, radio-frequency skin tightening or a PDO thread lift addresses a different layer, and we will say so rather than sell you a course that cannot deliver what you came for. Many clients combine approaches, and the order matters, which is what the consultation is for.
Is it right for you?
Microneedling is mechanical rather than light-based, so it carries no skin-tone restriction and suits most skin types. It is not suitable over active breakouts, broken or infected skin, or during certain courses of medication — your technician will ask. If the chest damage you want addressed is pigment rather than texture, an IPL PhotoFacial may be a better first step, and we will tell you that at the consultation.

Microneedling for neck & décolletage: your questions
Straight answers from the Oxyderm team. Still wondering about something? Call us. We love these questions.
Can microneedling fix the lines on my neck?
It improves the fine, crepey texture and the shallower lines by building collagen in thin neck skin. Deep horizontal bands and loose skin are a structural issue that microneedling does not address — skin tightening or a thread lift works on a different layer. We will be honest at the consultation about which of your lines fall into which category.
Is the neck treated at the same depth as the face?
No. Neck and chest skin is thinner with fewer oil glands, so your technician uses a shallower setting. Treating the neck at facial depth would be over-treating it.
Should I treat my neck and chest at the same time as my face?
Most clients do, and we recommend it. Improving the face while leaving the neck untreated makes the contrast at the jawline more obvious, not less.
How long is the downtime on the chest?
Expect a flushed, mildly sunburned appearance for one to three days, similar to the face. Because the chest is often exposed by a collar, plan sun protection and clothing around it.
Will it help the sun damage on my chest?
It helps the texture and fine wrinkling that come with sun damage. For the brown mottling and visible vessels, a light-based treatment like an IPL PhotoFacial targets pigment directly and is often the better starting point. Many clients end up doing both in a planned order.
Does it work on crepey skin between the breasts?
That is one of the areas clients most often ask about, and yes, the décolletage including that area is treated. It is thin, sun-exposed skin, so the depth is kept light and the course planned to build gradually.
